Congratulations to the undergraduates that finished their thesis or research project at the end of April!
Lucas Fong (BIOMEDDC 4A15) – Predicting phenotypic multi-drug and extensive-drug resistance from Mycobacterium tuberculosis genome sequences.
Sophia Green (BIOMEDDC 4A15) – An investigation into workflow construction and generalization performance for an integrated approach to biomedical text mining.
Amy Baik (BIOCHEM 4T15) – Empowering municipal wastewater surveillance of antimicrobial resistance genes.
Zahrah Talawala (HTHSCI 4A09) – Comparative analysis of hidden markov models and machine learning methods for beta-lactamase identification.
Jiaying (Tina) Liu (BIOCHEM 3R06) – Interpretation of efflux mediated antibiotic resistance using ontology-driven data modeling.
Melody Ding (BIOCHEM 4Z03) – CARD*Shark4: pathogen anchored antimicrobial resistance literature mining for curator oriented knowledge integration.
We’ll see Tina next year for her 4th year thesis. Amy & Zahrah are staying as summer students, with Amy starting her Masters with us in September.
Congratulations to Zahrah Talawala for being awarded a CIHR Undergraduate Student Research Award to fund her summer research!
